Jeder der sich nur ein bißchen für Mode interessiert kennt ALEXA CHUNG! Das Model, It-Girl, die Moderatorin und Redakteurin hat mit IT erschienen im PENGUIN Verlag ihr erstes Buch veröffentlicht und zeigt nicht nur ihren Fans und Lesern wie witzig, geistreich und verdammt sympathisch sie ist!
In IT (das unglaublich schön gestaltet und in Stoff eingebunden ist) erzählt uns Alexa von ihrer Kindheit und ihrer ersten Fashion-Obsession als sie mit 6 Jahren Reitstunden genommen hat, ihren ersten Stil-Ikonen (ihr Großvater und die Spice Girls) und ihren modischen Vorbildern heute (Moviestars).
"While I was figuring out my own personal style I borrowed heavily from the stars of the silver screen. I still find film characters to be the most useful sources of inspiration when it comes to sartorial decisions, but now rather than literally ripping off a look and seeming as though I'm in fancy dress as a particular character, I manage to incorporate certain styles into my wardrobe in a more subtle way. Apart from when I'm trying to be Wednesday Addams, because that look is DEAD ON."
Annie Hall wird da genauso genannt wie Lolita, Liv Tyler in Empire Records, Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums, Edie Sedgwick, Charlotte Rampling in The Night Porter, Natalie Portman in Léon, Anna Karina in Une Femme est Une Femme oder Winona Ryder in Heathers. Für mich nicht nur eine modische, sondern auch eine cinematographische Inspiration, mir die Filme wieder mal anzuschauen!
Neben zahlreichen Fotos, die Alexa auf all ihren Reisen selber gemacht hat, findet man auch Kritzeleien und Zeichnungen aus ihrem Notizbuch in IT und erhascht so einen noch besseren Blick auf die Privatperson Alexa Chung.
Wenn sie zugibt "incredibly messy" zu sein oder in den 90igern "endless episodes of My So-Called Life" gesehen zu haben, gleichzeitig "obsessed with moisturising" und "obsessed with cigarettes" zu sein, kann man sie nur lieben! Geht es uns nicht ähnlich? Haben wir nicht zum Teil dieselben Stilvorbilder, Macken und Gedanken?
Something I keep in mind, wenn ich in 2 Wochen wieder nach New York fliege:
"(...) a red lip is great to wear in airports. I don't know why but it makes me feel very glamorous to have bothered to apply lipstick when I'm travelling. Wie eine gute Freundin, gibt Alexa Chung in ihrem Buch Beziehungsratschläge (die auch tatsächlich funktionieren!) und eine Best-Of Liste von Songs für Break Ups und Falling in Loves. Sie "zeigt" uns ihre Wardrobe Essentials, gibt uns Tipps für das perfekte Selfie-Foto und nimmt uns mit in ihren Lieblings-Karaoke Club in New York. I like this girl!!!
"DJing for people is fun until someone comes up with a phone screen that has "PLAY SOME RIHANNA" written on it. I prefer to play older songs because they are the ones I personally enjoy dancing and singing along to and modern dance music bores my brains out."
Das Buch ist wunderschön gestaltet, etwas kurzweilig, aber sehr sehr unterhaltsam und ich freue mich jetzt schon auf das Nachfolgewerk! Weiter so, Alexa Chung!
